WARN Act Calculator

Check whether a layoff may meet the federal WARN Act coverage threshold and estimate possible back pay. This tool is an educational screening calculator, not legal advice.

Federal WARN usually requires all of these:

1. Employer has 100+ full-time employees

2. A qualifying plant closure or mass layoff at a single site of employment

3. Notice provided was less than 60 days

4. For mass layoffs: either 500+ employees affected, or 50+ affected and at least 33% of the workforce

Important: This calculator applies a simplified federal WARN screening test. Real cases can turn on single-site rules, state mini-WARN laws, part-time treatment, business-circumstance exceptions, and whether 90-day layoffs were truly unrelated.
